Xorr tribute or Xorr rip-off?

This caught my eye the other day. A character named The Monolith appears in Avengers #180, and he bears a striking resemblance (at least on the splash page) to Xorr, who appears on the cover art to Thor # 215. Even the pose is identical.

Hmmm....
